The bearings are used to allow rotation or linear movement
and to reduce friction between two objects. The ease of movement (rotary or
linear) reduces friction and improves the speed and efficiency of the object.
The bearings are divided into two basic categories.
Radial bearings - Rotating shaft bracket
Thrust bearings - axial load support
These types of bearings are designed to work with various
thrust loads and radial loads. The biggest difference is that the weight of a
particular bearing is much stronger than the others.
Various types of bearings
There are several types of bearings. Designed for specific
applications and designed to withstand specific types of loads, thrusts or
radial.
The most popular types of bearings are ball bearings,
Tapered Roller Bearings, Ball Thrust Bearings, and Roller Thrust Bearings etc.
1) Ball bearing:-
Ball bearings can handle both radial and thrust loads and,
therefore, have a niche area in bearing applications. All bearings receive a
nomenclature based on rolling elements and apply equally to ball bearings.
This bearing
can support less weight. Ball bearings also have a unique structure that can
withstand loads and have a unique structure. Roller blades, hard drives and
more.
Other names: "deep groove ball bearings" (due to
structural aspects)
The basic parts of the ball bearings are as follows.
Inner race: -The Inner race is mounted on a rotating shaft,
which tends to rotate the axis.
Outer race:- The outer race is fixed and mounted on the
housing. It also helps to transfer the bearing load to the housing.
Rolling element "ball":- The
rolling element "ball" transfers the load through the axis.
Cage: The cage plays an important role in the bearing. It
acts as a barrier between the balls and prevents them from colliding with each
other.
Applications:
Ball bearings can be used in a variety of applications
including:
a) Automotive industry: Ball bearings are used in all
automobiles. They are mainly used for parts such as the steering, the engine,
the power train and the drive shaft.
b) Equipment for the home: Ball bearings can be found
anywhere in household appliances, such as hair dryers, washing machines,
electric drills and DVD players.
c) Paper manufacturing industry: These bearings are widely
used in paper machines. The bearings used in paper machines operate at high
temperatures.
d) Toy industry: Toys are designed to pass through
compression springs or electric motors. Therefore, the ball bearings are
included in the toy and move smoothly.
e) Aerospace: Ball bearings are widely used in space
shuttles and rockets to facilitate easy and free movement.
2) Tapered Roller Bearings:-
Tapered roller bearings can withstand large radial and
thrust loads. These types of bearings can be found in the cubes of cars due to
the variety of loads.
Tapered roller bearings are equally effective in providing
great multi-functional functionality and for handling large thrust and radial
loads. These bearings can be used widely because they can raise loads in the
automotive industry and the wheels must be able to withstand.
The basic parts of Tapered Roller Bearings:-
Inner and outer rings: Tapered roller bearings have tapered
rollers located between the inner and outer rings.
An inner ring with a rolling element forms a unit that can
be mounted individually on the outer ring.
When the conical surface extends, it engages to a single point
on the bearing shaft. This proves that the rolling conditions of the rolling
elements are optimized.
The axial load capacity of the bearing can be determined by
the contact angle, which corresponds to the angle of the outer surface of the
raceway.
Tapered roller bearing notation:
Tapered roller bearings generally start with a serial number
of '3'.
3.Ball Thrust Bearings:-
Ball thrust bearings can handle thrust loads in low speed
and low weight applications. For example, the bar chair uses a ball thrust bearing
to hold the seat.
As its name suggests, ball thrust bearings contain rolling
elements. 'Push' basically indicates that the bearing is designed to transmit
thrust loads or axial loads.
The bearings are available in two default configurations:
• Insulated thrust ball bearings.
• Axial thrust ball bearings with double thrust.
Notation for Ball Thrust Bearing:-
Thrust ball bearings generally begin with Series 5.
4) Roller Thrust Bearing:-
Roller thrust bearings can handle larger thrust loads. They
can be seen in a used car transmission to support helical gears. Gear
supports are common applications for roller thrust bearings.
As the name implies, cylindrical roller bearings are
specially designed and manufactured to deliver axial or thrust loads to the
shaft.
Roller thrust bearings offer the following benefits:
• The height of the axial section is very low, which
requires much less space for assembly and assembly.
• Due to the presence of the roller, it has a large load
capacity, which makes the bearing contact the line so that it can carry more
load.
• High rigidity due to the structural aspects of the
bearings.
Structural aspects:
• The thrust bearings of the rollers consist of two outer
cords called "washers". One of the washers can be used when mounting
with the installed shaft and shaft. The bearing checks the direction of the
axial load so that the bearing is transmitted through the bearing to the
housing.
• The second washer or stroke has a hole that is a little
larger than the first washer and is usually a support of the rolling element at
the other end.
• The third is the rolling element that is held together
through the cage.
How does the bearing work?
The bearings consist of a ball and an interior on the
outside of the smooth surface for rolling. The ball has the weight of the load
and the force of the load helps to rotate the bearing.
There are two types of load:-
Radial and Thrust.
· The radial load is simply weighed on the
bearing, causing the bearing to turn or rotate as a result of tension.
· Thrust loads tension the bearings in a
completely different way.
